My second full-length poetry collection will be arriving next September (2027) from Four Way Books. I’ve been working on this book for nearly 6 years, and I could not be more ecstatic for it find a home with this iconic publisher and brilliant, generous team.
“Brutal Miracle” confronts the atrocities, raptures, complicities, and fragile joys of our present day through the lens of fatherhood. Reckoning with masculinity, memory, and all the sharp and tender edges of our iniquitous world, it asks: What resides on the other side of survival? What do we owe to the lineages we shape?
Speaking of lineage (literary), the roster of Four Way authors over the past 30 years who have shaped not just who I am as a writer but the entirety of the poetic canon is mind-blowing: Rigoberto González, Monica Youn, Gregory Pardlo, Tina Chang, Reginald Dwayne Betts, Yona Harvey, Tommye Blount, Kevin Prufer, Cynthia Cruz, Cyrus Cassells, Eugenia Leigh, one of my most cherished mentors, C. Dale Young, and so, so many others. It’s beyond anything I could have dreamed to see my book join that list of luminaries.
I know this next book is long overdue, and I’m terrified as always, but I cannot wait for you to meet this book. ✨ ✨ ✨
